Music Mondays (French Edition) ~ Louez Adonaï

30.9.13

Louez Adonaï (Praise Adonai) by Paul Baloche

I tried to find the lyrics in French so y'all could follow in French but they were nowhere to be found.  So here are the English words for you to follow with.  We have been listening to Paul Baloche's French worship album a lot at home and singing a lot of his songs in chapel, it's been a huge blessing.   Enjoy!

~

Who is like Him
The Lion and the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Mountains bow down
Every ocean roars
To the Lord of hosts

Praise Adonai
From the rising of the sun
'Til the end of every day
Praise Adonai
All the nations of the earth
All the angels and the saints
Sing Praise

Who is like Him
The Lion and the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Mountains bow down
Every ocean roars
To the Lord of hosts

Praise Adonai
From the rising of the sun
'Til the end of every day
Praise Adonai
All the nations of the earth
All the angels and the saints
Sing Praise

A Day of Rest....and Chocolate Chip Cookies

22.9.13

A sweet  friends came over and made us lunch after church, and chocolate chip cookies.  I love her more than ever before!  I told her that she could come and make us cookies any time she pleased.
I will add that these are the first homemade cookies we have had since being in France and as our friend said "They aren't the best I've ever had, but they are".

Hoping your dimanche (Sunday) was as sweet as mine was!

Typical Day in My Life - France

19.9.13

because I wanted a pretty picture!
Well, we all know that you rarely have normal days.  Especially when you live in another country.  But here is what my day looks like most of the time!

7:45- Wake up and smell the coffee. Well, my mom's coffee...  Get dressed, have quiet time and make sure I have everything for school packed.

8:10- Out the door (hopefully).  We have a 1/2 mile walk to school, which is normally uneventful.  Except in the case of rain and wind, then there may be some funny/maddening moments.

8:25- At school, descend into the dungeon (aka the room we use to do school in the basement).  Commence to do school for a while and if the internet is up check e-mails and the blog.

10:25- Coffee break for everyone.  We ascend from the dungeon and partake in coffee/tea/hot cocoa and chat a little.

10:35- Back to class for everyone, down to the dungeon.

11:40- Break for lunch.  Pack up a little and walk 1/2 mile back to the apartment.  We normally have enough time to eat lunch, catch up and little and tidy the house.

1:00- Walk back to school for the afternoon session

1:20- Chapel, in french.  I actually have really been enjoying this, and I am gaining confidence in singing in French.

1:35- Back to the dungeon for the afternoon sessions

4:25- Schools out!  Pack up school and head upstairs to round everyone up.  Walk back to the house and pick up any bread we need.

The rest of the evening kinda depends on the day.  Mom and Dad always have at least an hour of homework so depending on the sometimes we watch a movie, play a game, do nothing or have someone over.

So there it is, a little peep into my everyday routine....  And I hope that you realize I refer to the room as "the dungeon" lovingly, not resentfully!!!  It's kinda a joke at school that we are banished to the dungeon!

How are you guys doing?  I would love to hear from you!

Love in Christ,
Jana

Elegant Blogger Award

19.9.13

Well, I guess I'm officially a blogger now that I have a reward....sigh.  Anyway, thanks Hannah for awarding me!  This will be fun!

THE RULES

  • When you receive the award, link back to keepcalmandsparkle1099.blogspot.com and the blog that nominated you
  • Display the award button in the post
  • Answer all of the 12 questions given in this post (Do not make your own questions)
  • Nominate 12 bloggers
  • Notify them that they have been awarded

THE QUESTIONS

1. What made you decide to start blogging?
Well, my mom had started a blog about what our family was doing and I decided that starting my own blog would be a great way to keep in touch with folks.  Also I enjoy techy things and have really enjoyed messing around with stuff in the blogging world!

2. What is your fashion style?
Style?  I don't know if I have any style but I am definitely a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl.  But on the other hand I love dressing up and wearing heels, so it kinda depends on the day!

3. What is something none of your followers know about you?
Hmmm.... I grew up hunting and love it.

4. What are some of your blogging goals?
My main goal is to glorify God and to share what He is doing in my life.  I would love to be able to have a large impact for Him!

5. Where is your favorite place to shop?

Target

6. What would your ideal amount of blog followers be?
I don't really know...But it is really encouraging when I see that I have another follower!

 7.What are your talents?

um, what an awkward question!  I'm a natural leader but I definitely have a lot of learning to do in this area!

8. Are you a leader or a follower?
I'm definitely a leader.  I'm working on being able to be more of a follower because it definitely doesn't come easily for me!

9. What is one of your favorite quotes?
I have a lot!  One I really like is:

" Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten."

10. Do you have a favorite book or book series?

Oh man, what an impossible question!!  I love to read pretty much everything.  I really love Louisa May Alcott, Bryan Davis and I've recently discovered Joel Rosenberg. The lost could go on and on.

11. Out of all of the synonyms for elegant, which would you describe yourself with (smart - stylish - dressy - graceful - dainty - fine)?
Hmm... maybe stately

12. What is your favorite flower?
tulips or daisies

Okay! Now on to who I'm awarding. :)

Week #3!

17.9.13

Here we are, 3 weeks in France!  This last week was the hardest for be yet, which makes sense.  The "honeymoon" phase has worn off and now we are just settling into life.  I have been able to get a lot of school done and we are slowly getting more and more comfortable with French.

Good news!  The church that we are going to has a group de jeune (youth group) that meets on Saturdays, so I'm gonna try it out this week. We'll see how that goes!  I'm praying that I will be able to meet some other kids and work on my French at the same time.

Fall has definitely arrived.  It has been consistently rainy and chilly.  Fall/winter here is a lot like Seattle, cold and wet.  I have been loving my sweaters, scarves and boots!  I was talking to my Dad earlier about how it's weird that we're so cold. But, as we were in GA for the last couple years I think our blood really thinned out!!  It'll be fun to see how our bodies react when we get to Burkina!!

And if anyone is thinking about coming to France, I am totally for it!  I will even be your personal tour guide.  Just throwing that out there....

♥Prayer Requests♥
  • Language learning
  • That group de jeune will go well
  • Peace
  • Nice Weather
  • Comfort about missing friends and family
Love you guys,
Jana

Music Mondays ~ Thoughts of You

16.9.13

Thoughts of You by Barlow Girl

~

Thoughts of You and how You changed me
Fill my mind
Without You where would I be

So even though I've tried to express my thanks
It never comes out how I hoped
I want to say so much more so with these simple words
I'll try

[Chorus:]
I love You
My heart is Yours, only Yours
I long to give You all of me
My everything, my everything

God I never could repay You
You gave everything
Without You where would I be

You still loved me even when I
Pushed You away
You stood there and waited
Till the day I'd return

~

I was going through all my MP3 the other day and found this song. I must have listened it to it about 10 times, literally.  It was such a blessing that I had this song when I needed it.  I pray that it can be a blessing to y'all.

On the River Seine ~ Part 3

16.9.13

We had our first French meal at a little restaurant in Paris, it was super fun.  I did almost laugh out loud though when we were asked if we wanted water with or without gas?  Of course he was talking about mineral water but gas normally doesn't come up at the table, especially in a resteraunt!

The last 3 pics are so you guys can get a little bit of an idea what the RER looks like.  It's a lot like a subway but it doesn't always travel underground.
